This piece was made in conjunction with a thesis, exploring creative solutions to problematic content and perspectives that arise in historical plays. In this film I attempt to paint a more accurate and less forgiving portrait of the problematic and misogynistic lead character, who in the original is defended by comrades and exonerated by the playwright for his sexual misconduct, a reflection of common attitudes prevalent in the English Court 350 years ago and still today.
